The Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. is planning to renovate their campus. The practice of Bjarke Ingles has been commissioned to draft the preliminary phase of a master plan that will fix the intermittent pathways and other hinderances that have been problems for years. Some of the Smithsonian treasures like the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Quadrangle Building, the National Museum of African Art, and the Mary Livingston Ripley Garden. While no actual construction is planned before the Smithsonian has the opportunity to review the initial plans, Bjarke Ingles hopes to create a new environment that visitors will want to explore and relax in before heading to the rest of the D.C. mall.
