College track is a San Francisco based nonprofit organization that empowers students from under-privileged communities get a college degree by offering them resources they would otherwise be lacking. They had a facility in the Hunter’s Point neighborhood in San Francisco that became much too small for their needs. They purchased an industrial building in the same neighborhood and employed Turnbull Griffin Haesloop Architects to renovate the space. The firm transformed the space into an array of learning and teaching rooms arranged around a central, skylit reading room. The architects utilized mirrors to bounce natural sunlight throughout the building and added recycled finishes to accentuate the exposed concrete and structural elements.
