Mycelium Chair by Eric Klarenbeek Mycelium Chair by Eric Klarenbeek

A collaboration between Eric Klarenbeek and scientists at the University of Aachan has developed a chair printed with a living organism, a fungus that grows inside the structure to give it strength. Klarenbeek believes that the material, a mixture of water, powdered straw, and mycelium, a thread-like part of a fungus, can be used to print anything, from a table to a house. After the structure dries, the straw is glued together by the fungus, resulting in a strong but lightweight material.
