Clemson Campus By: Angie Yates
Clemson University’s College of Architecture is one of the best in the country. Their facilities fit the prestige of the school. The college has enlisted New York City firm Thomas Phifer and Partners to create an addition to the Lee College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities. The site is adjacent to an area filled with green open spaces that runs directly through the center of Clemson. The 55,000 square foot addition houses twelve professional degree programs in the departments of Art, Architecture, Construction Science + Management, and Planning + Landscape Architecture. The programs academically cross over, so the building was designed in a way that promotes multi-disciplinary work and research amongst students and faculty. The building is highly energy efficient and uses natural sunlighting, ventilation, and insulation, among other things.
