Olympic Rings Olympic Rings By: Patrick Hoesly

MenoMenoPiu Architects + FHF Architectes have a proposal for the Tokyo Olympic Stadium. It is “designed not only as a sports stadium, but as a city fragment”. The stadium appears in the shape of an elliptical spiral which is “gradually unrolling and forming”. The goal was to create a grand sports arena for the Tokyo Olympics while simultaneously connecting natural and urban elements of the city on a human scale. The complex contains and connects with gardens, squares, pedestrian streets, various public spaces, among other things. The stadium is designed to become a completely integrated feature of Tokyo’s dynamic streetscape. It has direct accessibility to major public transportation lines and is very near many parking lots. The roof of the structure is a solar field, and will create energy rather than consume it.
