Gippsland Water Factory Gippsland Water Factory

Housing the offices and laboratory functions for a major water recycling plant, the Gippsland Water Factory’s Vortex Centre is designed to be sustainable. The structure is built over an artificial lake that cools the building by allowing water to pass through heat exchangers, which deliver cool air into the building. The water is then pumped to the roof to cool off over night.

The Vortex’s exterior is made up of seven inter-fitting barrels which decrease in size, giving the 650 square-meter facility a vortex shape.
