A new art museum can be seen rising on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles. “The Broad” which is philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad’s contemporary art museum is being called “the most significant new architectural project in Los Angeles”. The building will be three stories and 120,000 square feet. It is being designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro, wiht Gensler as the executive architect. Next year the structure will be home over 2,000 contemporary works of art. The project’s most significant element is a 65-foot-long V-shaped structure that resembles the hull of a Viking ship. It is called the “touchdown beam” and will be the front of the museum.
