Lucas Armstrong, design + consulting (LADC) is building a certified “Passive House” in Nelson, BC. Passive House, or PassivHaus, is a green construction technique combining progressive technologies to create superinsulated, netzero structures that are almost completely self-sufficient. This type of green building is common in many European countries but has come slowly to North America. As a more innovative and successful approach than LEED, buildings using Passive House standards going up in the US and Canada are exciting projects to watch.
