Yale Art Gallery Yale Art Gallery By: Lian Chang

Yale University has recently reopened their newly renovated art gallery designed originally by Louis Kahn. Ennead Architects, formerly Polshek Partnership, refurbished the gallery and Yale has decided to make the admission free to the public. Much of the renovation is invisible to the eye, they improved the structural composition of the gallery. Yale is home to one of the most impressive university art collections in the world, and the building fits. Kahn’s design is one of his best, his tetrahedral ceilinged space houses the African and Indo-Pacific installations. The exterior allows for natural sunlight to pour into the space, giving the art and the architecture a surreal and beautiful glow.
